The 75th Anniversary Celebration of Jones Tabernacle A.M.E. Church was truly a memorable day! As far as anyone knows, this was the first time Jones descendents have worshipped at this historic edifice so titled in honor of Bishop Jones. As it is now known, Bishop Jones and his wife Elizabeth bore four children: Joshua Jr., Prudence Elizabeth, Gilbert Haven and Alexander Henry. The descendents representing the family of Gilbert and Alexander comprised the total of those in attendance, with 12 from Alexander's family.

As the morning worship service began, Soloist Robin Carney-Victor of Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church presented a very moving rendition of Great Is Thy Faithfulness. The church was moved to tears as many realized how befitting the song and its delivery after 75 years of Christian service. The Rev. Dr. Leah Gaskin Fitchue, president of Payne Theological Seminary, delivered the morning message. In many ways, it was a homecoming of sorts for this former first lady of Jones Tabernacle who brought the Word forward with power and conviction.

State Representative Jewell Williams presented city and state government citations to Edwin Robinson, the senior member of all Jones descendents in attendance. As it was Father's Day, members of the Church School presented flowers to the men of the church. The Jones family dined with church members before the high-spirited Festival of Hymns Concert that was held during the afternoon service.

On behalf of Pastor Louden and the friends, family and members of Jones Tabernacle A.M.E. Church, we would like to say thank you to the Jones family for making our 75th Anniversary Celebration one that shall remain among the most memorable events in our church history! In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the story behind this day as we attempt to recreate it through pictures. Be Blessed!
