Reverend Stephen Michael Lewis was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is the second child of Ann Fortune Lewis and the late Dr. Richard D. Lewis, Sr. A 1980 graduate of Central High School, Reverend Lewis attended Millersville University of Pennsylvania where he graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. After college he went to work for the Department of Defense and currently serves as a Contract Administrator in the Pharmaceutical Branch. In May 2007, Reverend Lewis earned his Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

On October 29, 1995 Reverend Lewis preached his trial sermon at Shorter AME Church, Morton, PA under Pastor Pleasant L. Hailey, Jr. Presiding Elder Herman A. Rhodes licensed to preach on November 12, 1995. In May of 1999 at the Philadelphia Annual Conference, the Lord called Reverend Lewis out of darkness into the marvelous light and he was ordained an itinerant deacon of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church by Bishop Philip Robert Cousin. In May 2007 Rev. Lewis was ordained an Iterant Elder in the AME Church by Bishop Richard Franklin Norris. He began his ministerial career as associate minister at Shorter AME Church in Morton, Pennsylvania where he served as the Youth Minister from 1996-2000 under Rev. Johnnie Vause. He served as pastor of Allen AME Church in Oxford, Pennsylvania from 2000-2004. The membership doubled under his leadership. Also he led that congregation in a complete renovation, purchased a steeple and a fifteen passenger van.

Reverend Lewis served as the pastor at New Bethel AME Church in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania from June 2004-June 2008. The church thrived both spiritually and numerically under his leadership. Rev. Lewis led the congregation in a complete renovation project. On June 14, 2008 Reverend Lewis was appointed as the ninth Pastor of Historic Jones Tabernacle AME Church in Philadelphia, PA.

When not proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ, Reverend Lewis can be found on the basketball court at Pennwood High School in, Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. One of his great joys is basketball and he exhibits his love of the game as Assistant Coach of the Boys Varsity Basketball team.

Reverend Lewis served 3 years as Chairman of Christian Education for the West Philadelphia District of the AME Church. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Sun Federal Credit Union of Philadelphia and is a board member of the Volunteer Admissions Team for Millersville University. He is also a Life member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.

Reverend Lewis resides in Wallingford, Pennsylvania with his lovely wife Charlene Palmore-Lewis and their son, Sean Michael Lewis.
